Undersea earthquake strikes to the west of the islands of Vanuatu

The earthquake struck at 4.54pm (AEST) at latitude 19.490S, longitude 168.410E, The Courier-Mail reports. The Joint Australian Tsunami Warning Centre said in a statement that there was no tsunami threat to the Australian mainland, islands or territories. A statement on the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre’s website said that no destructive widespread tsunami threat existed based on historical earthquake and tsunami data.
