The Yunnan Provincial Red Cross Society and provincial authorities have sent relief efforts and relief supplies, including quilts, tents, clothes and other vital items to the area, reports People’s Daily Online. Vice Governor of Yunnan, Cao Jianfang, said.

We must ensure that the disaster-stricken residents are properly accommodated and have adequate food, water and clothes Gu Yishan, an official with Yunnan’s seismological bureau, said rescue teams were currently working in the area. Yishan also added that the region is consistently hit with moderate earthquakes measuring in the 5-magnitude range. Thursday’s earthquake occurred the same time as Alaska experienced six earthquakes.
